Martha in the Pen
Aug. 7th, 2002 03:09 pmA woman I knew fairly well years ago is now a mystery novelist. I opened People Magazine and there she was in the book review section (they loved it... I wasn't as thrilled). I dug out her email address and sent her a note about how tickled I was with her success. She wrote back that she was even more thrilled at achieving one of her three life goals: To appear in People Magazine without having to kill her parents. I was afraid to ask what the other two life goals were.
My friend, the accountant at work, and I were talking today about when we get the funding - more than a handful of million dollars. She could just run off with it all. And, if she got caught, she'd still be one of the first women to be caught for corporate fraud. Worth a good 15 minutes of fame right there - People Magazine and way way more.
Then we remembered Martha Stewart. It looks like she's going to make it first and my friend would be lost in the shadows ... plus, the thought of sharing a cell with Martha, she says, is enough to keep anyone honest.
Work really is busy today but we have found enough time for a giggle or two.
