I do love Seattle loads but some year, I'd really like to see fireworks again. The problem is that on the 4th of July, it never gets dark early enough. They usually start them the minute they can but that's 10:30 pm. There are three big fireworks shows in the area but I can't see any from my house so I have to go. The first couple of years I went down to the waterfront - a couple of blocks - but you really can't see too much there and the crowd is a bit dicey.
So now I just got to bed grumbling about it.
I think tomorrow morning I may nip out and deliver my latest afghans and do a quick grocery run.
The Mariners lost and they shouldn't have. Texas. How embarrassing.

Date: 2003-07-05 03:28 am (UTC)But, I guess that I am forever spoiled. Most of my life...I watched a spectacular show on the Washington Monument grounds. I can never duplicate that feeling of sitting and leaning back on a sheet or blanket and the bursts of color above.
So now..for me..I just tune into my PBS and watch a Capital Fourth. Fun to see D.C. and the show on stage as well as the fireworks. None anywhere else that I have lived can match up to the splendor.
All around here...I can still hear firecrackers going off...and my little houseslipper pekingnese is none too happy about it..nor are Alex and Chester. (who are hiding somewhere)
