Miscellaneous
Sep. 15th, 2002 10:36 amI read in the morning paper that the video/DVD of the first year of Six Feet Under will be released in early 2003. YAHOO! Amazon still has it listed as 'not made yet' but I signed up for the email notice.
The professional football game attendee culture is indeed interesting. At least the parking lot view of them is. There were tents set up with people sitting under them at 6:30 this morning. Perodically there is a small (20 member) marching band that comes by on the street bellow about every 30 minutes. The parking lot is nearly full. The game starts in 2 and 1/5 hours.
Finally, it is cool today. Not as cool as it should be but nice. The internet says it 57 degrees. My thermeter says 72 inside and 67 outside.
I heard for the gazillionth time today that people with TIVO and Replay personal recorders can fast forward through commercials and thereby are a threat to commercial television. Now, I got my first VCR in 1980 (it was a cute little beta number with a remote control - not a wireless remote but one with a cord that stretched across the room to the couch...) and with it, I could fast forward through commercials. I've been doing it ever since. I got my TIVO about 3 years ago and I fast forward through commercials with it the same way I do with my VCR. So why haven't the ensuing 22 years killed off commercial TV? How is TIVO different in this way from my VCR? Confusing.
This afternoon I am going to get all of my finances caught up in MS Money. I did this last month but then managed to wipe out the data. So... doing it again today while the Mariners lose yet again. Sigh.
