email on the phone

susandennisTwice, sometimes three times a year, I take a trip. Twice a year I go to Mom's. This year, I'm also going down to L.A. for the weekend to visit friends. I don't get out much - by choice - too lazy.
But, when I go, I like to stay connected. I used to be able to use my cellphone as a modem for my IPAQ PDA and get my email as well websites on it. Easy peasy. But I got a new cellphone and the PDA's operating system won't accommodate the USB connection. But, the cellphone itself has a great (small) screen and does come with internet access. So yesterday I spent a fair amount of time seeing just how impossible it was going to be on the road.
Answer is... not too bad considering... It's a tiny little thing and I did manage to reel in the email I wanted and the web pages I needed and even managed to send a short email all using the phone. I can live with that.
I'm a real minimalist on the road. If it doesn't fit into my purse, it ain't going. Seriously. I keep a set of clothes at my Mom's and I'm only going to be in LA for a weekend so both of those trips will meet the purse requirements. And now that I don't have to take that bulky PDA :), I have even more room. Maybe I'll toss in the phone's earbud or something whacky like that!
