good work day
Nov. 1st, 2002 10:50 amPart of my job is these damn corporate giveaways. They are a bitch because everyone wants something different and want it now and for cheaper and high quality. Plus the vendor we had when I took this over really sucks. I mean really. She never returns phone calls, never responds to email and promises arrival dates based purely on fiction. As a company we've had a long standing relationship with her.
About the time I took over this responsibility, my manager gave me the business card of a guy who kept trying to get our business. She kept telling him that we already had a vendor. I suggested we let him bid on a couple of things and check his prices and response time and she, not really caring one way or the other, said ok. So I did. His prices are much better. He answers the phone every time I call. He responds to emails immediately. And he's creative and nice to deal with and he brings me free shit.
For five days now I've been trying to get a ship date out of the old vendor. Four emails and two voice mails later, she finally responded that she thought my goods - which were supposed to be here two weeks ago - will probably be here in two weeks. I'll believe it when I see it. The same day she finally gave me an answer, I got a hand written note in the snail mail from the new vendor thanking me for my business.
Meanwhile new vendor, who I'll call Jeff, mainly because that is his name. Sent me an email yesterday with the delivery schedule of all my items. The tshirts had a delivery date of '11/7 or before'. They arrived today. And they are fabulous. Really excellent. The shirts themselves are of great quality and the imprint is better than I expected. I am so thrilled.
All's well that ends well. And I'm sure Ms. Ditz will be able to find business elsewhere.
