[livejournal.com profile] nt is the one who gets the credit here... He said I should take my camera on my walks. So this morning I walked the waterfront (the tourist end, not the industrial end that I did last week). I went down as far as the docks where the big ships come in and I thought it was funny to see this one very elegant private boat that kind of looked like a dingy next to the ocean liner.

BUT, when I got home and pulled the photo out of the camera I discovered a most wonderful photo!! I swear it did not look like this as I was standing there. This looks magical. I would have never even seen it unless I had taken the photo. This is amazing.

This may have to be a puzzle and - speaking of which - there are a lot of new puzzles in the making. Lots. Watch this space.

It seems to me that LJ has had a rather large appetite the last few days.

So, I will try it again.

I said that Yes, your wonderful photo would make a good puzzle, however, it would make a great summer cottage.

Doncha think?

I see. You have a summer cottage, you add a few buff guys, then you have an Mmmmmer cottage.

Got it!

Sometimes the eye of the camera sees what we do not. Very nice.

I've noticed that too. I don't take many photos these days, but I used to -- I really got my start on a trip to Yugoslavia and Italy in 1976 where I took about 600 slides. Somewhere there's a picture I took on that trip of a little outdoor cafe on a square with some cats wandering around -- and back in a shadowy corner is a shadowy image of a cat that I'm sure I didn't see while I was taking the picture.

That's a gorgeous photo! And I know what you mean about 'not looking like that' when you took the pic! I love when that happens!!!

thanks for adding me, btw

This picture will teach you how important clouds and/or sky can be a in a photo. The clouds can actually become more imprtasnt, in fact, than the foreground, if they are good ones like the ones here. Hence you should always look out for nice clouds, particularly towards the end of the day when they are at their most dramatic.

End of today's lesson.

And by the way, you did good!

I'm no art expert and while I love to take pictures on my digital/webcam I have to say that the shot you took of the cruise ship and the "little one" is purely wonderful.

The clouds are what attracted me at first glimpse, but then my eyes travelled to the dark water and the front lower part of the picture.

That's just an all around great one!

And of course, a jigsaw candidate. Thank you for sharing with us.

Oh yes, keep posting photos from your walks! This one is lovely. Cameras have their own unique way of seeing things. Mine is awkward and frustrating, but sometimes it works magic.

Wow! Great photo, and especially interesting to those of us who are landlocked and don't normally see things like that.
