No telephone?

susandennisOn Thursday evening a good bit of Tacoma suffered a huget telephone outage. Lots and lots and lots of people had no telephone service and I think some of them didn't get it back until today. This got me to thinking... No telephone... no DSL. My only backup these days is regular telephone modem. And the alternate backup is the neighbors' wireless network which - I'm guessing here - might well be DSL.
I used to be able to use my cellphone as a modem for my IPAQ but my new cellphone won't do this. I do have a USB cable that is supposed to hook the cellphone up to the computer... Ok, I think I'll count that as a backup. Hmmmm Of course, I could go down to the coffee shop with my IPAQ - but they are probably telephone dependant, too.
Ugh. I don't want to think about it. I can check email on my cellphone - that is better than nothing. Just a little better.
