Ahhh a quiet morning
Nov. 19th, 2002 08:07 amMy new desk area is wonderful so far. Quiet and nice. No shrieking and no idiot phone conversations dotted every two sentences with 'ya know whad-i-mean?' I heard two of them coming in the front door this morning shrieking over something on The Batchelor. A wave of gratitude swept over me as they took their fascinating conversation to the other room.
I have now spent some time with the blogger software and it's interesting. You can either have your journal on their server, BlogSpot - not advert free - or your own server. You can use their free service or buy their pro version ($35 a year). There are a couple of really nice features. You can have all your entries automtically emailed to you and, of course, if you have your own server, you already have copies. And the uploading/use of photos is way easier. The HTML coding is kind of easier - their templates are much less complicated and you don't even have to use their template.
But... no friends. And I mean no friends. They don't even have comments. There are a bunch of third party things for comments but it's not part of the package.
There is probably a way to do memories but it's not as easy as LJ and there are teams but I don't really understand them and don't think they are like LJ communities.
When I first went shopping for an online journal, I kind of fell into LJ by accident. What a lucky tumble.
