joyofmacs brings to mind a discussion we had at work last week...

Glove box or glove compartment?
Sofa or divan or couch?
Purse or pocket book?
Drapes, draperies, curtains?
Wash cloth or face cloth?

The funny part about the work discussion is that everyone understood every term and everyone had a fast answer and was ready to duke it out over their choice. The wash cloth and face cloth people nearly came to real blows.

Good thing we didn't have a Brit in the mix. And the Canadians were all busy working...
