susandennisAt 8:20, I was doing my usual, sitting on the couch, knitting and watching TV when the lights flickered. Since I can count on one hand the number of times we've lost electricity in this building in the 10 years I've lived here including earthquakes, I didn't worry.
Wrong. In the next minute, we went dark. Totally. I looked out the window and the Amazon offices had lights. The stadium parking lot had lights, hell, the stadium had lights. We had squat. But, the good news was that our street didn't have lights either which means it wasn't just our building.
But, what do you do when the lights go out? I couldn't watch TV so I thought I'd check email... wrong... what time is it? No clue - all electric clocks. I did find a candle and then a flashlight and then a battery radio and then figured I was just stuck. So I got into bed with my flashlight and my book.
9:15, lights on. Whew. That was plenty of no lights for me.
Odd, however, when I turned the computer back on and booted up I got 5 emails from LJ all from comments made last week! They all came in after comments made this evening!! Very strange. I am overly dependant on email notification of comments. I need to be checking better... Now I am going to turn off all these lights - the damn things are so bright and go back to reading my book.
When the electricity goes is it sooooooooo quiet. I could hear the cats think. Not something I need to be doing.
