In Washington state you do real estate closings in the Title company office which always strikes me as strange. The first few houses I bought were in states where real estate transactions were always handled by lawyers. But, here you go to the title company. This is my fhird closing in Washington state and every single one of them have been with the nicest people! Patient and careful and friendly and nice. Today was no exception.
The woman said that she had had some problems with my broker - not on my account but on another guy's who also closed this week. She also said that my broker may be a pain in the ass but both this other guy and me got really good deals so maybe it was worth it. 5.625% fixed for 30 years - this will bring my monthly payment under $1,000 which will be quite sweet - and that includes taxes. It does not include condo fees but hey... I'm not complaining.
And on the way home I was at a stoplight and spied a shop in the next block named Skeins and it had available parking in front. This demanded a look see. It turned out to be a very nice little yarn shop. I'd never even heard of it before. They yarn was pretty high quality (read expensive) and pretty froofroo, but nice. I did spend a long time studying the knitting tools and toys and found some very nice stitch markers and an interesting afghan pattern. I got out of there for under $20 which is in the range of a miracle.
Happy happy
