DVD Rental Bake Off - the final results
Jan. 3rd, 2003 08:34 amI finally got my WalMart DVD's yesterday - a week after ordering. I ordered 3 and I got 2. They come from Southern Califorinia so I figured turn around time is at least 10 days. That would put the cost of my using their service about $11 per DVD.
Netflix has shortened their turn around time to about half of what it was this Summer. It's clear that I can drop my DVD's into the mail on Monday and have new ones by Friday. This is what I'm after. Interestingly, they have changed the rules on their cheapest package. They used to have 2 for $15 and they still do but they cap it at 4 a month total. This is still about a movie a weekend which is about right for me for most of the year.
So I cancelled Walmart and then remembered I'd forgotten to check something. Of course, since I cancelled, I could no longer get into my account. Arugh. So I called the toll free number.
Now, here's a big plus for Walmart. They have a toll free number you can call. Netflix has one but it's only good for 'selling' you the service. They won't answer questions about your account or fix any problems - that's web form only.
Anyway. I called the number and a real person answered after 2 rings?!!!! I was shocked. She was nice. Answered my questions and all is good.
Netflix wins it but it was fun to have the competition.
