My good deed for the day

susandennisI got a note yesterday from a guy in Tennessee asking for my help with his database/asp webpage. He had been digging through newsgroups looking for the answer and found my postings on the same problem.
His first note was perfect. He got right to the point. He included everything I needed to know about the problem. He put his code at the bottom of the note. And he asked very very nicely.
Problem was that it's been at least 6 months since I'd messed with the stuff and while I knew that I had figured it out, I sure couldn't remember. I sent him a note telling him I'd get on it when I got to work and could check my notes. I got a note back from him thanking me for even trying.
I came in this morning and was able to replicate his problem immediately and then tried several things out of my notes with no luck. I popped over to the Microsoft Knowledge Base and was just reading down the article list when I got the perfect clue and remembered immediately what the fix was. One of his database fields used a reserve name. Changed the name and it worked perfectly.
How incredibly satisfying. I was really glad to help him out but I probably got far more satisfaction in just cracking the case.
Nice way to start a week - all this before 8:30 a.m. on Monday!
