I am really enjoying my walking. I can already walk substantially farther and faster than when I started just a few weeks ago. I walk to tapes of music that has been designed to provide metered beats for walking. I go until the first side is done - 30 minutes and then flip it over and come home. It's like having auto pilot.

If I go north along the waterfront, 30 minutes gets me down to the other side of the big ships dock. It's a great walk with lots to see and very pretty. BUT, it has a trick at the end... MacDonald's lies in the way. After MacDonald's it's about 10 more minutes home. Of course, I could keep it down to one sausage biscuit.

So this morning, I decided to go do the full walk to the south, past the Mariner stadium - at the 30 minute mark, I hit disaster. Right there is the cleared ground (footings already poured) of the new home of Krispy Kreme.

I am fucking doomed. I believe I mentioned yesterday that God is a prankster. I am now ready to tesitify.

You are cracking me up. Life is a series of test and yours seem to be getting a little harder all the time. Maybe you will have to do a few oblique walks from time to time. Will you continue walking when the rains come?

One of the great advantages of retuiring is that I can wait to take my walk until it gets light. It used to be that I had to walk before work which meant in the dark, wearing a reflector vest to keep the folks along our road from running me down. You, at least, have sidewalks.

If you go due east or due west in Seattle, don't you go from one waterfront to the other? How long a walk is that?

I must be psychic. Before I even got anywhere towards the end of your post - or saw that logo - I was starting to formulate some advice in my head to the effect that you must, on all accounts, avoid walks which go within 1,000 yards of a KK outlet. And then you spring that on me.

So, you'll need blinkers, ear-plugs for your nostrils and anything else to block out visual and olfactory distractions.

Those boots were made for walking, Nancy - I mean Susan . . .

Oh man!

Krispy Kreme is my downfall! We have an old one in downtown Atlanta where you can see them on the conveyer belt. The smell is unbelievable.

By the time your KK is up you can make it your reward for your marathon training!!!!

You go girl!!

I think it is becoming unhealthy for your body to walk, but the boost to mental health from the endorphins from eating Krispy Kreme will more than compensate.

Krispy Kremes are just stating to come to Canada. I had my first one just 6 months ago or so... So far the only 2 around have not been within reasonable driving distance -
but - a new one is opening right near work.
Bad bad bad.
