Good Saturday Morning!
Feb. 8th, 2003 07:46 amJake seems to be getting better. His sneezes don't sound so conjested - more just out of his nose - and his behavior is returning to more Jake-like. However, one of his eyes is now watery. Poor guy - can't seem to catch a break. But, maybe he's just coming out of whatever it was.
-------
Mom is off to an 80th birthday party. Where she lives, there are only two birthdays worth celebrating, 80 and 90. 70 is kids stuff and at a 100th, the birthday boy or girl is usually more of a brocoli than a party animal. And, in reality, the 90th is usually about the same as the 100th. So... the 80th is really it. The party itself is fine grist for the chatter mill. Mom celebrated her birthday exactly as she wanted to - a few friends at a luxury event. She does not approve of:
- inviting tons of people ('I got over the 'everyone in my class' thing by the time you kids got out of elementary school')
- surprise party ('stupid stupid stupid at our age'
- evening parties held in the daytime to save money (she's never quite bought into the early bird special thing)
Today's party is lunch for about 30 at a very fine restaurant. Mom has her nose in the air about this one. It violates two of her three rules. I can't wait to hear the details.
------
The house in the parking lot has had a baby. There is a cluster of what looks like four parts to a playhouse sitting out there now. I shall keep the camera read.
------
I can't do my taxes yet - still waiting for a final piece of info that I won't get until next week so next weekend is beginning to look like tax time or the week after.
------
I am thinking about making some website changes and fixes and backups. I may well just do that this morning. At least I don't have to shovel any snow - sadly.
