I am a sucker for little logo shit. Visor clips, pens, highlighters, desk toys - any of it. I love it all and can't get enough. One of the parts of my current job is selecting, ordering and disbursement of our swag.

I have a vendor who is perfect in every way. He never ever lets me down and he's nice and fun and understands my love of this shit. Today he came with his holiday gift ideas. We spend about $50 per employee at Christmas time. Last year was the first time the responsibility was all mine. The Twinkie who handled it the year before fucked it up (and also got fired) so the bar was low and I raised it big time. Each employee got a leather CD case, a t-shirt and a fleece vest. They were happy.

This year we're thinking duffle bags and fleece blankets. Oh and caps. Plus I need to order new pens and maybe post-it cubes for the reps to scatter around the offices of prospects. It is a fun part of my job.

At the end of the month, my vendor is having a big customer party. Free food and drink and giveaways at a country club just south of here. It's on a Friday in the middle of the day. I'm there. And every time this vendor comes to visit he brings me stuff. Today was a wonderful soft leather small notepad holder with pen. Very elegant and a postit note cube. I am a swag whore for sure.

Again today there need be no discussion about baseball or the Mariners. None. I don't want to talk about it.

swag? for xmas?

mmm ... swag ... after an impromptu day off of work ... I returned today to find a funky little gadget on my desk with a client's logo on it. The gadget turned out to be a mini screw driver set.

Will I ever use it? Probably not. But I still love this shit!

I love that shit also. When I had a real job I seemed to collect it also. Now I don't get any of it any more. Dang.

Want Some More?

Over the years I've collected far too many of those items.
Over the 6 years in my last job at a Physician's Group, the drug reps wooed us with everthing from desk items to catered lunches. (btw the Allegra people put on the best spread....amazing)
I've got loads of trinkets with names of pharmaceutical companies as well as pens, memo cubes, highlighters, tote bags, most of which I'll never use.
Anyone want some? I'll gladly send you some.
