I got not too much today... this and that but no grand thoughts or epiphanies or amazing occurrences. Some days are just like that and, around here, Mondays in particular.

Kenny, our IT department who sits just next to me, spent the weekend finishing up an upgrade to our Exchange server. When I got here this morning he was heads down into it. He said that he did go home and shower and change clothes on Sunday morning but otherwise he'd been here since Saturday morning. Poor guy. The upgrade turned out to be snag city as about every third person had trouble getting their email this morning. About half were legitimate problems and about half were blonde problems.

I took my new Treo with me to our 2 hour meeting to go over the new product pricing. The meeting, as usual, was one where they stretched 10 minutes of content into the full 2 hours. But, Treo was up to the challenge. I checked email and replied to a bunch. I played some games and did an online check of my itinerary for my trip. The thing provides hours of entertainment.

It still amazes me in how simple it is to operate and manipulate. And there are several good online communities. One, in particular, has yet to fail me... when I can't figure out something, I look in the forum and, sure enough, someone has already provided the answer. Tres kewel.

I got two notes today - one from a friend in San Jose and one from a friend in Louisiana both asking how come I get my own terrorist drill right down the street from my very house. I'm never very sure of how to spell neener neener.

There are working Amtrak and freight train tracks just across the parking lot from my terrace. The Amtrack station is the next building over. So train whistles are pretty common. But, yesterday I heard one do 'shave and a haircut, 2 bits'. It took a minute to register in my old (see yesterday's LJ) brain and when it did, I just cracked up.

I'm getting organized for Mom's. I've been swapping emails with a new accountant for her today. Unfortunately, there are steps up to his office and she has bursitis in her hip right now and can't do steps. And the main point of my seeing him was to make Mom to meet him and make sure she doesn't hate him. We can do it at Thanksgiving. No biggie.

I just got a note from my friend, BJ, saying he couldn't get a form, house on the intranet, to work. I hit panic and then remembered that it is tied to email. There must be some switch somewhere pointing to the Exchange machine which last week had a different name than it does today... hmmmm. I dug around on the server and voila there the sucker was. Fixed it and the form works great. Fun when your friends find the problem before the execs do.
