Sometimes even I surprise me

susandennisMy attitude about my job has been pretty crappy lately. Today I had two hours of three meetings back to back which I knew going in were going to really piss me off.
I built this company's first and only employee intranet. I designed it, I built it, I 'marketed' it, I have maintained it - in short, it's my baby. When my manager came back from maternity leave she started saying we need to redesign it ... what? this perfectly fine piece of work??? so what if the design is looking like a sad 80 year old (web page design is 1 year = 40 people years)? so what if you can't find shit - look for it, goddammit!
And if that wasn't enough, she wanted to get input from other employees! She made up 4 sub committees to represent the four major parts of the country and today we met with 3 of them. I expected them to really poopoo the whole thing and whine.
I was wrong wrong wrong. They had great suggestions and each one offered to help make their section better than everyone else's and they liked my redesign and it was, in short, great! I'm quite jazzed. It doesn't hurt any that an hour after the last one, I left for six days of vacation either.
Oh and today Kenny got a new shredder that even shreds CD's - we had a ball. It also shreds credit cards but he wouldn't let me test it on his.
GREAT day and now I am officially on vacation. Whahoooo!!
