We're all about the bling bling here...

susandennisIt all started last week when Kenny said something at work about the bling bling. Kenny is 25 and on top of all the latest. With me at the time, was Matt, who is 35 and on top of nothing. Neither Matt nor I had the faintest clue about bling bling. Kenny was astounded and appalled and thought we were kidding. It took a while but finally he explained it all to us.
The very next day, there was a news story about the phrase making it into the OED. Then, two days later a story in People magazine noted the bling bling style of somebody. On the plane, the USAir magazine talked about the bling jewelery necessary to accompany the new pony tails. Bling bling bling.
So, I told Mom about the bling bling. I just didn't want her to be left in the dust.
There can be no funnier conversation on the face of the earth than mother explaining bling bling to her friend who is 83 and very hard of hearing. This was at the dinner table in the dining room here while the hostess (a 20 something black woman) was trying so hard not to eavesdrop and most especially not to burst out laughing. She was doing ok, until I caught her eye and winked. She lost it and so did I but Mom and her friend were totally involved in noodling out the bling bling and missed it.
Just now she is getting dressed to go downtown for brunch and wondered how much bling Charleston could handle on a Sunday morning. (I think the answer is not much...)
