I've always been a morning person.

When I was about 12, Anne Parrish was the most popular girl in my circle of friends. If she did it, said it or wore it, I tried hard to do the same. One time she was sleeping over - I think it was more than just her - on a Friday night. Saturday morning came around and she was up like a shot at the crack of dawn. I was astounded. I thought the rule was that on Saturday you slept as late as possible because you could. So I asked her about it and what she said stuck with me like glue:

"Are you kidding? Saturday's my one day to do anything I want to do... why would I waste any of that time sleeping???"

That was probably the last day I slept in ever. I mean sometimes I'll stay in bed and kind of nod off until about 7 but generally, I'm out of the sack with coffee in hand by 6:05 or earlier.

Jake and Betty save most of their hijinks for the mornings, too. That's when Betty does her rug tunneling. That's when they play-wrestle, or real-wrestle depending on who said what about what. That's when they do their very best toy scattering work.

We're just a morning house.

And on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, these days, that starts with a walk. Today was the waterfront route. There was a Greenpeace boat and a huge ocean liner and some nice little yachts. But, none of those photos turned out. On a whim, I turned around and got this one of downtown which turned out fine, I think. See that arch just at the horizon on the far right? That's the football stadium outside my terrace. This is taken from the spot that is exactly 30 minutes from there - if you are walking 3.2 miles per hour.

Wow! You walked all the way up to my neighborhood.

I live about six blocks due east from that very spot.

The elevator takes you up to Western and Lenora, pretty close to where Elliott swerves and runs into Western. That elevator is convenient indeed, especially when I want to walk down to the waterfront.

I'm with you. I am not terribly good at starting the day but I don't want to let it end. I keep finding something to do until I can't stay awake. That isn't working well with a commute that has to start at 6:30!

Definitely a morning person!

I feel like your friend does - why sleep in on the days I can do what I want??? I'm always up by at least 7:30AM - and that would be late for me!

I love the picture! I have never been to Seattle - and this just makes me want to visit!

Well, I'd say, having no clue didn't detract from the beauty of this picture! Looks like a lovely time to be walking by the water. . .

nice morning you've had.
curious about your city walking - do you have a route that saves you from crossing/stoplights holding you up? does your early hour let you ignore the lights?

Sorry to crash your journal, but . . .

Seattle is very nice. But the best thing about it is how close it is to Vancouver and Vancouver Island!!
