I really really really don't like hot weather. I grew up in hot weather. I've done my time. Humid heat, dry heat, I don't care, I don't like it at all.

One of the things I like most about Seattle is the weather. We have a lot of cloudy days. When you have cloudy days, the sun can't get through and it won't get too hot. And here, when it rains, it cools everything off. This is not the case in a lot of the world. While I'd be happier with more snow, I'm willing to sacrifice in order to also have very very few days when the temperature reaches 90. I am grateful for the weather in Seattle. Usually.

But, now we are staring down the nose of a hot week. While the bubbleheaded weather people on tv (is that redundant?) are declaring victory and joy as they look at a week that may well break 85 degrees by Thursday, I am looking for a cool cave to crawl into.

Last year, I pulled my air conditioner on wheels out of storage before July 4 which was really early. This year it looks like it may have to come out this week! I've closed the blinds in the house in hopes of keeping it cool. The building is 100 years old and made of 18" square brick blocks. It takes a while for those suckers to let the heat in. But, alas, once it's in, it takes weeks to cool it down again.

I know those of you who live in Gilbert, Arizona and Savannah, Georgia (no names shall be mentioned) and other hot places think I'm nuts for getting all stressed about impending 85 degrees and you are right.

So I'm going to try and make this a no-bitching-about-weather journal. Now, I'm not [livejournal.com profile] pinkfish, but you'll know when you see this:

That it's too hot here!
