More bits and pieces
Jun. 8th, 2003 07:27 pmI finally finished going through every single one of my LJ entries, finding pictures and redoing the URLs. Whew. Now, when I add a new photo, it will go into my new scheme so that I can add it to both the photo gallery and keep the link to LJ and it will all be under a domain name so I can change hosting companies or servers and not lose the links. Whew.

This task would have been ever so much easier if there was a decent backup/archiving system for LJ where you could search and replace and I'd dearly love to have a backup of my journal as well. Maybe someday. But I did google to see if there was anything out there that I've missed and sure enough, turned up a tool that is somewhat helpful.
ljbackup offers a windows utility that scarfs up your LJ into a local version that is really really limited but does allow searching. It took a couple of tries to get it to go get my journal entries but it finally did. Maybe someone will pick up the code and make it more useful. But, as it is, I can filter all of my entries where I used the word fuckchop. This is important because in answering
hockey_ho's comment last week, I was pretty sure, but not entirely positive, that I got the wonderful phrase from
drood. LJUser found the first instance immediately and, I was right.
It would still be great to have all of my entries, and all of their comments in some sort of editable fashion on my own PC.

It has been fairly comfortable all day. It's a bit warm in here now but the air conditioner is taking care of that. It's supposed to be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow. Thank you!

I took a nap this afternoon which I never ever ever do. Betty and I slept for about 20 minutes. What can I say? We were sleepy.

The Mariners won both games of a double header against the Mets today. And I mean really whopped 'em. I forgive the Mets for the rainout on Saturday.

Mom is really doing nothing these days. She moves from Tivo to her computer and that's about it. I don't think she's eating very well but probably well enough. Her best friend has been out of town for a week and Mom didn't even bother to go down and get the mail. I think if something were to happen to best friend, Mom would be ready for assisted living. At least she has Tivo and her computer or I think she'd be bored to death.

I am reading Jennifer Government. Someone on LJ (
thirdreel?) mentioned a while back and I've had it on my shelf for some time. I picked it up the other night and it is one of the most engaging things I've read in a long time. Futuristic comedy - at least so far.

The end of the bits and pieces for today.
