Today's walk - well, that would be walk #1, found these very cool steps.

You think they will turn into a jigsaw puzzle? Hmmm I think so. But they weren't the only steps du jour. I took a different route this morning that took me by one of my favorite urban spots in Seattle.

When I first moved here there was a big divide between the center of town (where Pike Place Market is) and my part of town (Pioneer Square). It was marked by this big, ugly, hole in the ground that was about a city block long and nothing but mud and crap that people had thrown in there for years. It was sad.

Then, about 5 or so years ago, that hole was magically turned into what is now called Harbor Steps. It is a stairway - wide and varied - that has trees and flowers and waterfountains and cafes and shops and apartments. It is a most wonderful spot. Here is is from the bottom looking up. You can just barely make out there on the right (yes, I really got it this time [livejournal.com profile] drolma!) there is a couple on their landing in white terry cloth robes reading the paper with their coffee.

I'm really enjoying your window on Seattle..it is an ocean away from me, but I hope to get there one day.
Meanwhile...this is a great way to see it!
I don't know how I came to read you,but I'm glad I did.

My first thought when I saw the beautiful mosaic steps was "Hmmm...puzzle forthcoming?"

That first image is stunning, a remarkable find and a good image of it. I'm curious what kind of place you found it in.
