How Do it Know??

susandennisI just ran into my neighbor, Scott. He thinks I'm THE expert on anything technical or digital. He was just home from the Verizon store where he had replaced his broken cellphone with a Kyocera palm/phone. He had tried to get on the web after he left the store and couldn't. He wanted me to show him.
I'd never used a real Palm (with grafiti screen) or a Kyocera phone or Verizon service, but, heck how different can it be? I clicked on the screen with my finger and I got a message that says "This is not a touch screen, please use the button."
If it isn't a touch screen, how did it know I touched it?????
He had not charged it up yet so it didn't have enough battery juice to do much. I told Scott to go charge it up, and get out the book and read it. I told him I would never tell anyone he read the manual. I also told him that if he still couldn't figure it out, bring the book and the phone and come on up and we'd get it noodled out.
