I could have sworn in the past couple of days I've seen a new version of Semagic come out. What I saw said that the new version didn't work well with XP and an XP version would be out tomorrow. It's hard to believe I dreamed it, but I can now find zero evidence. I mean zero. Freaky.

I did not do well in yesterday's meeting. I just get so pissed off. I feel very strongly that internal communications is critical to the success of a corporation and bad internal communications is the quickest way to kill a good company. Yesterday's meeting was one giant, day long example of bad internal communications. The logistics were mismanaged, the communications of those logistics were mismanaged. The messages delivered were totally mixed and not even very clear and to top it off we had a little homophobic humor mixed in with some sexual refrences. All in all... it pretty much sucked. And, these are not children. They are grown ups. Adults.
The best presentation was one by my boss's boss. He stood up there and told everyone that they needed to hone the way they talked about our company and our products and speak with one cohesive and well put together voice. He said that what was said that how the message was delivered as as important as the message. He even used the example of mixing fonts and colors on a slide show... 'very bad form' he said (he's British). This was a good message... except his slide show - the part with fonts big enough to actually read, was a horrendous mix of colors and fonts and bad graphics.
I could lower my standards but I'd have to get a big shovel.

Today is a boat trip. Same shit but just delivered on a boat. Initially I objected to being shanghai'd this way, but we were shanghai'd in the hotel meeting room yesterday. I think a boat will, at least, be more interesting.

My little pile of fun stocks which several months ago was worth just above $2,000, at close of the market yesterday was worth $3,497. Likey likey.

The place where Mom lives is after her to fill out her hurricane form. Every year she has to tell them what she's going to do if a hurricane gives serious threat. The place does provide evacuation but, honestly, they worry about the truly infirmed before they get to the semi-able-bodied and Mom does not like being part of a herd.
But, she does conceed that she's past her Thelma/Louise Get Out On The Highway days. I wish she'd get with the cell phone program but that's the one piece of technology that is just beyond her grasp and interest. I figure she'll do what she'll do come the big blow...

Guess I'd better find some boat shoes and get going... Catch you at the recap.
