susandennisI have a handy little gadget that speaks to me when the phone rings. It's little voice let's me know who's calling so I don't have to look. Well, ok, so I don't have to get off my fat ass and check CallerID.
If the ANI (Advanced Network Information - that's what they call the number you see in CallerID) is disguised like the telemarketing outfits do, the voice says "Caller Unknown". I rarely answer it. I'm so not a phone person anyway. Those who really need me have my cellphone number and the rest can leave a message on the machine which is turned on for monitoring.
Ever since all the publicity about the new Do Not Call List, telemarketers are on steroids. I'm getting a Caller Unknown call about 3 times an hour between 5 and 9 in the evening. And a fair number during the day.
