Chad, the Amazing
Aug. 5th, 2003 10:43 amMom says he's the age of one nephew (22) and the size of the other (huge) and couldn't be nicer. She said he didn't listen when she told him how to get to her place and he was very upset with himself about that but he quickly got down to business and figured out the problem and then he called me.
He said that he was getting nothing from the modem and declared it dead. We discussed options and I suggested we just order the external modem that hooks up via serial port. He said that he'd be happy to install it and get her up and going again.
I could not have Stepford'ed up a better guy for the job. Mom loves him. I love him.
For the second time this week, I've wished I knew the address of a boy's Mom so I could get to her and tell her what a great job she did.
And that's not even the end of it. I picked up the phone and called WeakNees.Com - I called their toll free number and got Mike. I just saw him on The ScreenSavers (TechTV) about a month ago. I said "Hi. My name is Susan Dennis and I'm a huge WeakNees fan and I have some questions." He said "Aren't you the one who gives us such a nice plug on your website?!" How cool is that?
I told him that it was a lovingly used machine with a modem that appears to be dead. He said they see that all the time and their external modem fixes it 99% of the time. Mom's will be at her house on Thursday. She told Chad she'd call him when it got there.
Whew.
