And it starts. Hopefully it will be over by the time this hits the LJ server.

I told Mom that I was going to take a cab to and from the airport at Thanksgiving. She forgets that when I was there in May, I put my foot down and told her that I was going to do that from now on. I knew she would forget. Hell, she forgets the way to and from the airport!

When I get off the plane after 9 hours and 2 or 3 planes, I do not want to get into a car and tour South Carolina which is exactly what has happened the last times she has picked me up. To get from the airport in Charleston to town is confusing. And she's 80 years old. And she's had a couple dozen strokes. And she shouldn't be driving a car at all. And Charleston is a town built for tourists so there are a bazillion taxis waiting for me.

Anyway, she lost my trip dates and asked me today for when they were. I told her and reminded her that I would be taking a taxi. She got all snippy and said that was ridiculous. I sent her a note that said:

I understand that you think it's ridiculous for you not to pick me up.  I get it.  
I promise I do.  
 
But, I don't care.  I am going to take a taxi from the airport and to the 
airport.  I feel really really strongly about this.  And if you want 
to do something nice for me you will just say 'ok'.  

Hopefully, she'll fold.
