Last weekend I posted a photo of a mosaic. Here is the context. On the left are the actual steps. They are part of a landing at the top of an elevator.The elevator takes you from the waterfront street level up the hill to the base of downtown. See just below (the lower right)? That landing up there with the circular railing is where the steps take you. The lower left is the view from that landing. Seattle has lots and lots of neat little bits and pieces of public art.It seems I'm always stumbling over something very cool but these steps are one of my favorites.

I'm totally diggin those steps. Enough that I'm wondering how I could possibly talk my husband into letting me do something like that on the back deck.

Oh just do it... I'll distract him. I'm a sucker for mosaics/quilts, etc. Making something beautiful out of bits and pieces of stuff just does it for me. And these steps are really beautifully done.

That's a nice touch, isn't it. I can always do with more of this kind of thing. Seattle looks very livable from your perspective. It reminds me, with all that sea and those mountains, of Wellington. Well, a wee bit. I guess if anyone knows whether it does or not, it's you.

What an interesting thought. I've only been to Wellington once and what I saw and remember is very Seattle-ish. Sea, mountains, ferry... But I have a good friend who lives there now and unless he's a weather exagerator, Wellington's a lot wetter and windier than Seattle. A whole lot.
