Saturday Steps
Sep. 27th, 2003 10:31 amToday's walk - well, that would be walk #1, found these very cool steps.

You think they will turn into a jigsaw puzzle? Hmmm I think so. But they weren't the only steps du jour. I took a different route this morning that took me by one of my favorite urban spots in Seattle.
When I first moved here there was a big divide between the center of town (where Pike Place Market is) and my part of town (Pioneer Square). It was marked by this big, ugly, hole in the ground that was about a city block long and nothing but mud and crap that people had thrown in there for years. It was sad.
Then, about 5 or so years ago, that hole was magically turned into what is now called Harbor Steps. It is a stairway - wide and varied - that has trees and flowers and waterfountains and cafes and shops and apartments. It is a most wonderful spot. Here is is from the bottom looking up. You can just barely make out there on the right (yes, I really got it this time
