I think not
Oct. 4th, 2003 01:02 pmI just got a newsletter thing from the Microsoft Alumni Network. It has an article about the discounts members can get on auto and life insurance. I'm interested.
When I first moved to Seattle I needed insurance. I wanted to use an agency that 1. was easy and 2. was owned by a woman. A woman at work said 'I've got just the place.' It was a small agency in Bellevue. I called I got the insurance. I never even saw the office. I got home owners and auto.
Over the years I just keep paying. Once I rear ended a truck and had to actually use the insurance. The body shop guy asked me the name of my insurance company and I answered Mutual of Enumclaw and he looked immediately relieved and said GREAT! (Later when I asked he said they were one of the best to deal with.)
The agency used to send me these cool calendars every year. I never did meet anyone there or see the offices. They sold out to a bigger one a couple of years ago. But, me and Mutual of Enumclaw just kept on keeping on.
I've often thought I should check and see if I was paying too much. I never did. Today, I did.
I am currently paying $387 every six months. After spending way too much time entering information into an oververly convoluted MetLife website for Microsoft Alumns, I discovered that I could switch, reduce my coverage and pay $445 every six months.
I didn't even ask about the homeowners stuff.
