This morning I struggled and fought over a graphic and a website that wanted it. I couldn't get it sized correctly and then couldn't convince the application that it was the right size. My computer was struggling and so was I. It was a 10 minute job that took 3 hours. I finally got it done and then took a break. I went home to check the mail and just get away from the desk for a bit.

There was a phone message from a headhunter and when I checked my email, there was an email from her, too. Both were very nicely done. When a recruiter or headhunter (or anyone for that matter) does a good and thorough job, I think it is rude of me not to at least respond. So I called her back figuring I'd get voice mail and could leave a nice message that I wasn't interested.

She answered. And was really nice. I explained that I had a good gig with a good commute and her job was at a place with wowzo benefits, hours more flexible than over cooked pasta and willing to bump up my salary by about 30-40% it would really be kind of a waste of everyone's time to even pursue it.

She was good. After much chat, she allowed as how the salary would meet my requirements and the place was on 4th Avenue which extends from the other end of town to .... just across the parking lot from my condo. She didn't have the street number. She said she'd get it and more info and be in touch.

It really would take a lot to unseat me at this point but it is quite a lift to have someone want you.

I'm on hold now for Sprint to find out about the Treo600. My call is really important to them - and has been for the past 30 minutes.

Your call is so important that they are saving it for a really special occasion, like someone's birthday or something. Perhaps you should feel honored?

I spent an hour on the phone with Qwest yesterday, I was deactivating my cell phone.

Large corporations really need to rethink there phone messages.

"All of our representives are busy right now". Seems to me they could find a better word then busy pretty easily.

That's not so bad -- sometimes they say "busy serving other customers", which is probably true (although sometimes I wonder if "all" should be "both"). But I'd like a menu option that means "yes, I understand that you're busy, please do not repeat this message every 45 seconds!"

Once -- and I was really quite amazed -- some office that I had called said in their hold message that they estimated that it would take X minutes to get to my call, and if I preferred not to wait I should press (something) and leave a message with my phone number, and they would call me back at the time that my call would have been answered. Not only that, but they actually did!
