I'm bowing to the pressure of my LJ friends. It has been a week since I sent my note to that guy who owes me money. My note politely asked for a projection of when he thinks he could pay me. I have heard squat.

I looked up small claims court info. I can get $4000 from him there.

So, first is an invoice. $3,000 at 10% not even compounded comes to $4,425. So I'm going to draft up a invoice and send a PDF of it to him electronically with a note explaining that a registered version will be arriving in the postal mail with a payment date of November 5 (which is exactly 4 years and 11 months since the due date).

If no $$ by November 5, then off we go to small claims court where, if I'm successful - and no reason why I shouldn't be - I can pick up the $4,000 small claims court minimum plus the $21 filing fee.

Thanks, guys!! I'll not only get my money but now I won't have to stress about this any more.

Satisfying to deal with a deadbeat isn't it? It isn't like they don't have the cash, they are just being substandard humans and near a good smack.

Hopefully this won't affect the value of your outstanding stock :-)

Bravo! I hope the dead-beat pays up and saves you the trip to small claimes court. He should be ashamed. If memory serves, he gave you a note so you have great ammo.
