Give my Mom a banana and she's happy

Everyone in my family calls my mother, Monkey. Her first grandchild started it when he could barely talk and now 20 years later, she's Monkey to all who love her.

One of the few things at the computer that she has worked hard to learn and learn she has is adding smilies and graphics to email. She loves it. (My own penchant for adding a graphic to my posts is definitely inherited.) This afternoon she added this to her email - - and said "I like to use this crying one just cause it is cute. I am not sad. I am glad." She really loves the animated ones.

Today I happened onto a web page of animated monkey graphics. I snagged her a bunch and while she was in the other room watching the baseball game, I loaded up her computer with the new ones and sent her a note saying that I had left her some new graphics.

It took her about two nano seconds to find them and I got about 4 notes loaded down with monkeys doing stuff. I can see her smiling 3,000 miles away. She's an impossible person to gift. She doesn't like stuff and has 81 years of it accumulated anyway. But, I scored tonight.

If you know someone who could use a monkey smile, help yourself. (My brother's wife - the one who stayed with her a week after her blood clot surgery last month, is a masseuse - I'm guessing she got an email from Monkey tonight!)

And, yes, the Verison 'can you hear me now' commercial with the monkey talking into the bananas is her current favorite.
