Just back from my walk and thought I'd drip dry a bit before I go find breakfast. We are having a good old Seattle Rain. It's a steady light rain - not light as in drizzle - bigger drops and fewer. If you ran across the street in it, you'd hardly get wet. But, when you walk an hour in it, you get a leeetle wet. However, it took nearly the entire hour to fully soak my fleece jacket. 39 degrees. Actually, in my book, perfect walking weather.

When I left out this morning, it was 7:30 and the first of the tailgaters had settled in for today's Seahawks game. Yes, that's a TV they have there. I particularly like the bicycle in case someone has to make a quick trip somewhere.... Game starts at 1.

But, no snow. [livejournal.com profile] joyofmacs asked if we have ever had snow and the answer is yes... Actually, we get snow on the hills usually a couple of times a year. From my terrace I can see that snow at the headquarters of Amazon which is on a nice hill just across the way.

Here, at sea level, just a half block from the bay... not so much but it has happened. The Big One was 1996. It was the day after Christmas - a Friday, I think. It started at 9 a.m. and snowed 18 inches. And then, 2 days later, it did it again. It was amazing and beautiful.

In 1998, we had another nice dumping and this time I caught the evidence on the Kingdome cam. I'd love to see some this year so I can get a 2003 version of this one - new stadium, new buildings... it's kind of amazing the difference 5 years can make...
