Snail's Pace
Nov. 23rd, 2003 07:50 pmThis visit is not flying by. Nothing about it is. She walks so slowly that I could nap between steps. She actually does nap between everything. When she's not asking me the same question she asked an hour ago.
If I've answered 'what are we doing tomorrow morning' once, I've answered it a million times. We're meeting the new accountant at 8 a.m. I can't figure out why this isn't sticking in her brain. Well, actually not much is. It's very sad.
But she's not particularly unhappy. She knows how to get and send email and enjoys that. She is actually pretty darned good at TiVo.
And... now, thanks to a wonderful customer service rep at Bank of America, Mom can now see her Visa card online. Whew and hallafuckingluyah.
She grew up with a cousin that she's still pretty close to. He's 82 and lives in Dallas, Texas. They talk on the phone once a month or so but he finally, tonight, got email. She's pretty excited about that. Oh and he knows how to type.
Today I organized her files and filed everything in a drawer with hanging folders and even color coded the folder tabs... green=financial, purple=medical, blue=friends, and yellow=fun. (She picked the colors.)
Tomorrow, after the 15 minutes with the accountant,we will likely rest up until lunch and then there's the after lunch nap and the pre-dinner nap. Dinner and bed. The pace is a killer. 4 more days.
Oh, Don't forget to check out the IHOP picture ... I had it documented with the menu but she wanted to be in one of the shots. Who am I to refuse...
