Productive!

This is my extra day off - my special, just for me, day off. And it's a fine one.

It was a little warmer this morning for my walk - not really warm but no frost on the docks. And there was a little drizzle which was refreshing. I keep thinking that I'm going to tire of these walks. This morning before I left, I couldn't decide which way to go and was thinking my options were getting boring. But, once I hit the street, all was good. I did the same route as yesterday and enjoyed it just fine, thanks.

Then home to the books. I am a serial novel reader. I want the next one lined up and turned to page one when I finish the one I'm on. And since I might not like the next one and toss it after the first 50 pages, I need to have plans b-z ready and waiting. It's a compulsion.

So I keep a decent stash of ToBeReads. They live on their own shelves. (I actually try to get a book out of the house once I've read it. I'm not always successful but I'm a lot better now than I used to be.)

Anyway, I have a database of books I have read since 1995 when I started keeping track. Now I have a database of books on the 122 books now on the ToBeRead shelf. And to that database are those books I have tried and rejected. I can now go one place on the web and see whether I have read the book or have the book or hated the book. I am feeling quite accomplished.

In going through the shelves today, I found - on the ToBeRead shelf (which are all books I have bought in the last year) - 3 books I had already read and 3 sets of dupes. Sigh. Now, everything is in alpha order by author and in the database. No book will be added to the mix without being added to the data base.

Time for a Spam sandwich and a bit o' TiVo.
