Squeaky Wheel?

My friend, Matt, came into work today to find a Christmas gift on his desk. When he opened it, he found a gift certificate and a bar of Ivory soap. "Is someone trying to tell me something?," he asked.....

And I remembered...

In the early 80's, I lived in Charlotte, NC. My Mom lived in Valdese which was about 2 hours away. Every once in a while, she'd come into the big city for this or that. She had a key to my condo and she'd pop in to pee or take a bite out of something in the fridge. I was at work and would only know she was there if the cheese had a big bite out of it. Sometimes she'd leave me catalogs which I loved.

Once I got home from work to find a pile of catalogs, a chicken leg in the fridge with a big bite out of it and a can of 3-in-1 oil.

I checked everything in the house - the door hinges, the drawers, anything that moved to see if I could find a squeak or anything that needed oil. I mean I checked several times. It was driving me nuts. What in the world did she find that needed oil???

Finally after about 3 weeks of tearing my hair out, I called her. "So I totally give up. What squeaks?" "huh?" "Why did you leave me the can of oil??!!"

"Oh, I had 3 and we never use the stuff."
