Killing time
Feb. 6th, 2004 08:03 amWhere were you when.... The Beatles were first on Ed Sullivan? Ok, so lots of you weren't born yet, but I was. And the anticipation of the big event was monumental. I made a new dress for the occasion. A pink shift. (I am not making this up.) My small group of girlfriends all went to Missy Davis' house to watch the show. Everyone dressed up to watch the TV show. I was not the only one who had a new dress. (Seriously, I am not making this up.) I do remember actually seeing the show but being allowed to go out and to watch TV on a school night are more vivid parts of the memory than anything else. I don't remember that ever happening again.
It's raining - the Blue Jay poncho is going to have to be hauled out for today's walk. But, it's also still pretty dark. Light enough to walk really, but too dark to get good pics should I happen upon a good pic.
Then it will be in to work. I got a note last night from my manger asking me to do one final task - it will take me about an hour or so. Then it's clean off the computer and turn in my card key, pick up my check and I officially start down the hallway to the next adventure. I'm a little more enthusiastic about getting laid off than I probably should be. Last time I got laid off I was frantic that I'd be a bag lady. This time, I'm grateful that I am forced to try something new and have the unemployment benefits to ease the way.
