Meat for the unemployed
Feb. 9th, 2004 10:14 pmMy first day of no employment turned out to be pretty good. Can't say I did anything too productive but I did get all the laundry done - and put away.
Lee (from Sherry and Lee downstairs) called tonight to say she had been to Trader Joe's and had a schlong of Hebrew National for me. I loved Trader Joe's when I was in California - mainly for all the wonderful cheeses. But here they aren't so big on cheeses and I always buy stuff I end up not liking so I steer clear. But, they are the only ones in town that carry Hebrew National salami and I love Hebrew National salami. Once Sherry mentioned she was going and did I want anything and I asked her to get me some salami.
The phone rang and it was Sherry calling from the store - 'is this schlong looking thing what you are talking about?' So, now we call it the Hebrew National Schlong. I got to Costco a lot more than they do but they love this one kind of trail mix that looks like leaves and twigs to me. So when I got to Costco, I get them leaves and twigs. It all works out. And I'm so happy to have my schlong.
Sherry was at the gym. Lee is not a gym person but she's been asking about my walking. Tonight she said she wouldn't mind going with me sometime so we have a date for Saturday morning. I told her she has to pick the route - north (the waterfront) or south (the Krispy Kreme route). It will be interesting to have company.
Now I'm off to read my book. I'm reading Annie Lamott's new novel. I love her non-fiction but have never been able to warm up to her fiction until this one which I am enjoying thoroughly.
