It's kind of strange to have a half holiday when you are unemployed. This is what my Kiwi friend, Scott, calls a faux holiday. The money people and the government have off and everyone else is working. Except those of us who aren't.
Lee, the brownie baking neighbor, keeps talking about walking with me. She does training for the postal service so she has today off. I tell her that we walk at 7:45 and if she's not here by 8, I leave without her. And today she showed up! It was very different to walk with someone. She's a good walking companion. She totally gets checking out all the cool stuff you never see if you are in a car - like inside windows and down alleys and stuff. We even found a pink bathtub today. Good fun.
The Home Show is going on at the Exhibition Center next to the stadium. Fran and I are going tomorrow. When I asked if she wanted to go, I suggested Monday or Tuesday without even thinking. She said Tuesday and thankgod. Holiday... Home Show... ugh. Tomorrow will be much better. Lee and I did window peeking at it this morning and it looks crammed with stuff.
As we got back to the condo, I told her about my foam headboard project and she said she wanted to go to Home Depot which is near the foam place so when we finished with the walk, we hopped into the car and off we went. It was nice to have someone to help with the decision - high density or not, 50" long or 45, covering fabric. She did great.
Then home to assemble. Turned out to be way easier a project than I thought and I love it. It is visually interesting, a lot easier than wrestling a bunch of pillows and provides nice padding for leaning against when I read. Even Jake approves although I did have to interupt his nap to change the sheets.
