I chickened out on the meeting and called Sherry to see if I didn't go would they fill me in on the dets. She is actually pissed enough about the whole thing for all three of us. She said she'd let me know.
Sure enough, about 8 o'clock there was a knock at the door... She and Lee came in with the handouts. $7,300 is my share. Due Nov. 1. Ugh. But, they both said that the presentation was organized and rational and while the amount sucks, it sounds like the right things are being done. At least all I have to do is pay. I don't have to suss out the problem, find the people to fix it, get bids, ride herd on the fixers, etc. All I have to do is pay the bill. And I have a good 5 months to get the money together. They even have a low interest loan deal if you want. Which I don't. If I'm going to borrow, I'd be more likely to go home equity route. But, it's good of them to offer.
Oh well.
Both Sherry and Lee remarked at how much weight Jake has lost. He was very very portly for most of his life but here in the past year has trimmed down a bunch. He's eating as much as usual and seems perky enough. But now his head fits his body. For so many years he had this tiny little kitty head on this big fat body. Jake is 15. In human years that makes him about 15 years older than me. So... can I plan on being thin in 15 years?? This is excellent news.
