Smelories

While walking this morning, I spied a guy jogging towards me - he was about 40ish and way too immaculately outfitted to be a real jogger but he was giving it a good go. As he passed I got a major whiff of Paco Raban.

Years ago I had a very (for me) long term relationship with a Paco Raban guy. His face and name slammed into me with the smell. When I got home I Googled him. He has a very unusual name. I was amazed at how few hits I got. While he was never as interested in computer stuff as I was, he thought he was on top of it and I expected to find his website.

As a comparrison, I Googled my sister who also has a relatively unusual name and found a few hits of people with her name but none of her.

Interesting. Googling me brings you a gazzillion hits. Not all are me but there is very little about me that you can't find easily. My maiden name was Susan Schubert and while this also brings a whole lotta hits, none are me. Of course, I haven't used that name in nearly 25 years.

Funny how a whiff of a memorable essence or a few lines of a special song can bring back such vivid thoughts of times past.

The first time I searched for myself on the web (it was Alta Vista, so "googling" doesn't sound appropriate) I got 15,000 hits -- 14,987 were for pages discussing the book of Luke in the bible. I didn't know to put the quotes around the entire term. Hah!
