Short day...

I got in early and did a bunch of stuff and then Kenny said... 'you want to go to Fry's with me and BJ at lunch?' Duh!

So we trooped on down to Renton. This was my first visit and great-googalie-moogalie. I was a regular at the Fry's* in Campbell, CA when I lived in northern California but this is a dozen years later and a different kind of deal entirely. The store is huge and very clean and very bright and organized. My memories of the the Campbell store are dark and dingy and kind of helter skelter.

The three of us walked around with your mouths open for two solid hours. Anyone watching us I'm sure thought we were in from the hills. We ate lunch there and wandered around some more. Finally Kenny pointed out that we might have extended our lunch hour a bit longer than was prudent so we went back to work.

BJ bought a wireless access point. Kenny bought earphones for the marketing VP and a mouse for the office manager. Hard as it is to believe, I bought nothing.

Not much going on - I did a few more things and came home. Not a bad day altogether.

*Fry's is a mainly western United States computer hardware store. They carry everything and also appliances. It was pretty strange to wander through a store with motherboards on one side and stackable washer/dryers on the other. It's located in a Seattle suburb about 35 minutes from the office.

There is a Fry's in Austin. A dangerous place to go. I have never walked out of there without buying something, aside from what ever I drove all the way there to get.

I used to live within walking distance of that Fry's in Campbell. :) The service sucked hard (more clueless employees I have never seen) and the prices were merely ok, but man did they have everything a geek could want! That's one store I sure do miss here in Florida.

Your jaw would hit the shiney clean floor just like mine did if you walked into this place. It is just wild. I was not impressed with the prices. I had just ordered a 512 SD card online for $70 and they were selling a 128 for 79. But you gotta love a place where you can pick from 20 different mother boards and grab a fullsized refrigerator on your way out.
