Uninspired

This week has so far been a little weird. Nothing is really broken or out of whack. Nothing is really fabulous or miraculous. I'm not really looking forward to anything nor am I looking back with regret or nostalgia. I'm just kind of flat lined and not in a bad way or a good way. Just kind of in a nothing way.

So instead of the usual brilliant and profane entry that you normally see here, you are just going to get a bunch of mishmash.

I sat in a meeting today and argued (successfully) for colorful 8" rulers with calculators instead of walking clocks. Now I'm waiting for the vendor to call me to see if I can get the stupid rulers in time for the next campaign. I also discovered that my manager has a calendar of upcoming campaigns. If these suckers are booked, then why - oh, why - do we wait until the last freakin' minute to do them? Is it just to make sure I have as little chance as possible at succeeding?

I did suggest that we go with the walking clocks for the one in January and ... get this... order them now instead of say, January when we would have to pay rush fees... Interesting concept, don't you think?

I haven't been good about taking phone pix. I need to take more of them. Mom is watching and loves new ones.

I'm finishing up one of the funnest afghans I've made in a long time. I think it's the colors more than anything that make it fun. It's crochet instead of knitting and I don't like that part but it was a kit I got on sale and just decided to follow the directions for once in my life and I'm so happy with how it's turning out. I'll probably finish it up tonight.

So tonight or tomorrow, I'll start the next one. I have the pattern selected... I have yarn in mint green, denim blue and canvas tan. I'm thinking probably the mint green. But that could be a last minute snap decision.

I made a discovery today that that has probably been known by millions for years. I never talk on the phone. The few times I do, I talk briefly so I just hold the sucker up to my ear. But, not long ago I was on hold forever and Kenny gave me a headset. Today while waiting for the ruler/walking clock vendor to call me back, I slapped the headset on.

When you have a headset on your head everyone leaves you alone because they think you are on the phone. This is the coolest trick in the book. I'm never taking this sucker off.

The headset fools lots of people at first. But, when you have a job where you have it on most of the time, people catch on when you don't say anything after 5 minutes. To totally fake them out you have to throw in a "yes" or "I agree with you" so they think you really are on the line with someone. It's still fun to see them stand there waiting for you to get off when you weren't on the phone to begin with.
