Today's Neighborhood Trifecta
Jun. 27th, 2004 08:52 amBikers for Kids, Ethiopians and baseball. And, on the other side of downtown... Pride.
The motorcyclists are lining up. At last year's event I think they had about 3,000. They look set up for at least that many this year. This is all in the parking lot outside my terrace. They line up and have a little rally and then head out, in line, for a ride somewhere to raise money for something - a children's hospital I think. It's really quite a thing to see - all that leather and chrome on a Sunday morning.
In the football stadium is an all day reunion/soccer/bazar for Ethiopians coming from around the U.S. They expect about 30,000 of them, I think.
And the Mariners game, in the next block down, starts at 1p.m.
Lee and Sherry called last night to say they were thinking about walking over to the Pride parade and was I interested. I would be except the sun is out and there isn't a cloud in the sky and I'd have to get breaded first because I would definately fry. No, thank, you... I'll stay in here with the air conditioning on and the shades drawn and the lights off.
I keep burning my fingers. Last week it was the ring finger on my left hand. This morning, getting the toast out of the toaster oven, it was the middle finger of my right hand. But... commercial coming... somewhere I picked up a couple of little packets of something called WaterJel Burn Jel. It's like magical stuff. It not only makes the burn feel better right away but in a few hours you forget you ever burned yourself. I particularly noticed it because burns on my fingers generally mean no knitting for several days. Not with this stuff. I'm back on the needles in no time. If you think you are going to burn yourself, don't. But if you think you might, get some. Really.
