Recovery? Already?

Unless this cold is in remission, I think I'm on the way to being cured.  My coughing got much better.  (I didn't actually get more talented at coughing - I mean the problem of the coughing got better.) And my nose isn't running and my head isn't stuffed up.  I feel much better than I did Monday or Tuesday.  Yahooooo.

Mom's been up to her ears in tennis.  As I have mentioned probably a million times, she was a champion tennis player and played competitively until about 6 years ago. Her knees finally gave out at age 75.  As a family, we spent lots of time at the tennis courts but only watching her.  None of the rest of us played.  Daddy was very supportive but his main sport was gin rummy.  His only other sport was scotch.  And he hated TV.

So, until he died, Mom always had to steal time to watch tennis matches on TV.  One year, she found out he was going to be out of town for the last two weeks in June. It was back when Wimbledon was only on HBO. She ordered cable and HBO for June that year and had a great time except Daddy came home before the finals.  He always said "Honey, you can watch your tennis.  I'll just read in the other room."  Then about 1 set into it, she'd hear "Honey, where is the xxxx?" or "Honey, do we have any capers?"  or something else that signaled The End Of The Tennis Watching.

But, now, he's looking for capers in heaven's kitchen and she is free to wallow in tennis and boy, does she ever.  She TIVOs what she can't watch and watches it later.  She a bit annoyed by the rains this year but figures that's good time to do the laundry or check email or "clean out TIVO which has gotten to be quite a mess with stuff". 

She sends me bulletins along the way.  I just learned, from her, about the tube strike today.  As her mother would say 'that Virginia is something else again.'
