Tasty? How the hell do I know?
Jul. 4th, 2004 05:49 pmAnd just when you thought you'd probably heard the last about this cold... wrongo. My tastebuds are dead or at least in a coma. It's so weird. Usually with a cold, I can't taste much when I'm all snotty. But, this time, I could taste fine. However, yesterday and today, when I'm getting so much better, I've lost my sense of taste. This is not fun. It better come back. I like tasting!
My brother and his wife are at Mom's. He had asked me last week if I thought Mom would like to have them for Christmas. They were trying to decide whether to go to Mom's or go to his wife's brother's. I said that I thought Mom would really like to have someone there for Christmas. Last year she seemed a little bored and lonely by herself on Christmas.
Well, today, apparently, they cut the deal. They asked her if they could spend Christmas there. He sent a note telling me. I just now got a note from her and she is 'thrilled and so flattered'. She just went on and on. She said that she told them no tree or decorations and they said fine. "But I think I'll do a little something - I want to do it for them." I'm so delighted for all of them.
And, yes, it's all about me. I really did feel guilty last year. And Bill says that my sister is going out to visit Mom at the end of August. Again, that takes the heat off me for sure. My sister is so high maintenance that Mom usually needs a month to recover from one of her visits. So I'll sail in at Thanksgiving and do my bit.
Whew.
I've had a lovely day of not much. Tomorrow I think I'm going to venture out. There's a new yarn shop at the other end of town and I need more sock yarn. Then I need to swing by the library. Both the yarn shop and the library are open tomorrow so I think they will be a good excuse to get off my fat ass and do something productive. A little.
