I need a cash cow
Jul. 8th, 2004 12:34 pmI remember now why the bus pass (which is, apparently, gone forever) was a good idea... The fare is $2 each way and the bus driver does not give change. So I gotta come up with $2 in exact change twice a day - every day.
See, the problem is... I'm your classic case of cashless. I rarely use it. I don't even use checks. I pay all my bills online - most automagically. I charge everything else. At work, you can fund an account for lunch. You keep money in your account and then you just run your card key over the little reader and wham... your lunch is bought.
I generally keep about $30 in my wallet but it's generally the exact same $30 I put in there months ago. And, like right now, it's a 20 and a 10. Not good bus fodder.
I do all my banking with a credit union. They are in Portland. They have branches here but none even remotely convenient. Where in the hell am I going to get a load of small (not even necessarily unmarked) bills???? Geesh.
