Good old Seattle Rain..
Nov. 2nd, 2003 08:45 amJust back from my walk and thought I'd drip dry a bit before I go find breakfast. We are having a good old Seattle Rain. It's a steady light rain - not light as in drizzle - bigger drops and fewer. If you ran across the street in it, you'd hardly get wet. But, when you walk an hour in it, you get a leeetle wet. However, it took nearly the entire hour to fully soak my fleece jacket. 39 degrees. Actually, in my book, perfect walking weather.
When I left out this morning, it was 7:30 and the first of the tailgaters had settled in for today's Seahawks game.
Yes, that's a TV they have there. I particularly like the bicycle in case someone has to make a quick trip somewhere.... Game starts at 1.
But, no snow.
joyofmacs asked if we have ever had snow and the answer is yes... Actually, we get snow on the hills usually a couple of times a year. From my terrace I can see that snow at the headquarters of Amazon which is on a nice hill just across the way.
Here, at sea level, just a half block from the bay... not so much but it has happened. The Big One was 1996. It was the day after Christmas - a Friday, I think. It started at 9 a.m. and snowed 18 inches. And then, 2 days later, it did it again. It was amazing and beautiful.
In 1998, we had another nice dumping and this time I caught the evidence on the Kingdome cam. I'd love to see some this year so I can get a 2003 version of this one - new stadium, new buildings... it's kind of amazing the difference 5 years can make...
